I taught Physical Education in my home city of Liverpool, before moving to Twickenham and Richmond to lecture in PE, Sport & Recreation.
I have over 25 years of experience of developing high quality coaching for my athletes. In that time I have coached Spencer Smith to UK, European and 3 World Championships. Stuart Hayes to UK Junior Champion, Annie Emmerson Duathlon Champion, Richard Stannard UK Champion, and Richard Jones UK 70.3 Champion. Other professionals I have coached are Dr Tamsin Lewis, Corinne Abrahams and Nick Baldwin and Age Grouper Matt Malloy.
I was GB Mens Olympic team coach for Sydney 2000 which included Simon Lessing, Andrew Johns (AJ ) and Tim Don.
I continue to coach elite and Age group triathletes at all levels of ability, in all triathlon distances both here in GB , but also throughout the world.
I was a Consultant for the Kelloggs Tour, Nissan Tour of Ireland, and Wincanton cycle races.
Designer and Consultant for Speedo and the Royal Navy for their Multi Sport Challenge. Plus Coach and consultant for the IMG London Triathlon Academy.
"One size does not fit all in coaching athletes." However, all programme are based on proven scientific training principles for the development of the physiological, psychological and technical (skill) training to improve efficiency and performance, within a balanced lifestyle.
I have always viewed coaching as an educational process. I want the triathlete to understand and know why they are training in such a manner. I am not simply a trainer. This "holistic" (whole athlete) and educational approach has always proven successful with my triathletes, in my career as a coach.
